3/20/2023 0 Comments Day 6: Mon, March 21, 2023Student bloggers: Reese Anderson & Caylen Judd Today we spent in Dublin, Ireland. We explored the town by boat, foot and bus! It was an incredible experience to take in sights that were commonly seen day to day in Ireland. Many things differ from the U.S. such as driving on the left side of the road and different school routines. It was amazing to meet with other kids at Ursuline schools to show how one crest brought many people together. Here we took a photo in the beautiful scenery of the Long room library in Dublin Ireland. This library houses the book of Kells a 9th century gospel that is world renowned. The gospel and churches brought such a perspective to this trip that inspired the true meaning behind the four core values of SHA; reverence, leadership, service, and community. In the beginning of our day, we visited Cabinteely school. A boy and girl school from ages 12-18. We were taught sign language to one of the songs they sang. “Be still and know that I am God.” We performed for the students our parade routine and they loved the Matilda selections we performed. We were able to share the joy of presenting our musical and talents to these amazing students. The highlight of my trip specifically was learning to Irish dance. Caylen and I had amazing partners (Sophie and Macy). It was so fun to do this Irish jig to the limerick song that was similar to what we sang at the parade. We could have danced all day at the school it was such fun. To end our school visit we took a picture with hearts gathering everyone that was there. It was a perfect roundup to a great day well spent. Many of us at SHA were enchanted by Kyla Belle who was a beautiful singer, singing many of our favorites. Dancing and singing with her is a memory many of us will not forget and will hold on to forever. After we ended our splash tour we enjoyed a shopping center close by that had the most beautiful flowers on the streets. It reminded us of a flower cart and we loved seeing everyone’s selections. The Viking splash tours was a awesome way to see the city outside of the bus. It was a beautiful day to see the scenery without rain. Everyone enjoyed this because of the fast-paced riding and experiences. To end the last day of a wonderful trip we had dinner at a pub called Nancy Hands. At the end of dinner everyone’s favorite part was dancing all together and revisiting our Irish dancing skills.

Throughout the day, we visited a museum, called the EPIC museum with the focus of Ireland culture as well as immigration. After this, we went to an interactive dinner experience, where several Sacred Heart girls were able to join the performance. Here we also sung the national anthem. Today was an amazing day for the SHA choir. ❤️ At the EPIC museum, the choir got to learn about Irish culture, including the “good and the bad” this interactive experience was informative and fun. At dinner at Taylor’s Three Rock, students were invited to dance with the Irish dancers. In this picture some students are being taught some Irish dance moves. The Sacred Heart choir exemplified our core value of community throughout the dinner. The students were able to enjoy one of their final meals in Ireland together with the company of dance and music.

Today, when we were driving to church, we stopped to look at a waterfall on the side of the road. After that, we went and sang in two different chapels at Kylemore Abbey. While we were on the bus, we gazed out the window and we realized how different each country's scenery can be and how grateful we are to see Ireland's. After Kylemore, we went to mass at the National Cathedral in Gallway and sang up in the balcony for the mass of the 4th Sunday of Lent. 3/18/2023 1 Comment Day 3: Fri, March 17, 2023Student bloggers: Olivia Askin & Savannah Drummond Happy St. Patrick’s day! Starting the day in Limerick, we went to the parade and got ready to perform! We then drove to Galway and got to have a walking tour of the city. It started to downpour, but that didn’t bother us! After the tour, we explored Galway’s center city and had the best time. I know this day allowed us to make many memories that will last us a lifetime! This is a fun selfie we took on the way to the parade! Here is the beautiful town of Galway, pictured as we explored the shops and restaurants. On the walking tour of Galway, we stopped by the St. Nicholas Church, which was built in the 1300s.
Authors: Elise Elder & Keiko Ohta After a long few days of travel, we made it to Dublin in the morning! We were very excited to be in Ireland with the whole day ahead of us! We got into our buses and made a quick stop at the Barack Obama plaza (in Ireland- who knew??) to use the restrooms and get a quick snack before hopping back in the buses. We took in the landscape from the bus- the one thing that stuck out most was how green everything was! There weren’t any dead patches anywhere, only bright green! Here is a view of the vibrant greens all over Ireland! This photo was taken from the Barack Obama Plaza (on drive between Dublin airport and Bunratty Castle). We then went to Bunratty Castle in Bunratty in County Clare. The estate dates back to the 15th century! We walked the estate and viewed all of the cottages and wildlife- most importantly… sheep! We were able to enjoy a guided tour of the castle itself and learn about its origins and what it has been used for over the centuries. We were also able to visit the gift shop where we picked up authentic Irish jewelry and Aran sweaters! After visiting the Castle, we hopped in the bus to drive to our final destination for the day- Limerick! We were able to drive the parade route to prepare for the Limerick St. Patrick’s Day Parade. We then checked into our hotel rooms. We all ate dinner together in the hotel where we took in the view of the city and the river Shannon. Then it was lights out for all of us as we were all gassed from all of the traveling. (Jet lag- 1, Americans-0 ! ) Here is a photo from outside Bunratty Castle! It was a beautiful building inside and out! These pictures are from the top of Bunratty! You can see the River Shannon as well as surrounding homes. To get to the top we had to climb up very narrow and steep round staircases- it was definitely nerve wracking! The view was definitely worth it, though! Sheep! These were the first (of many) sheep we saw on the trip. These two cuties were in one of the enclosed pastures that was part of the Bunratty Castle estate. They were initially standing apart from each other but knew to get together for a photo :) Here is a photo from our drive around Limerick! The mural caught the eye of all of the girls. It was very cool to see local art in Ireland. It also reminded us of home and the many colorful murals in Downtown Lou!
Authors: Amelia Brock & Audrey Heckel We started the day at the Louisville Airport at 4:45 am, and arrived from our first flight in Atlanta, Georgia around 8 am. The layover was a very long 14 hours, but we had ample time to explore and walk around the airport. Our flight into Ireland left at 10 pm, and we all slept as much as we could overnight. We arrived in Ireland at 10 am the next day! Going for a walk and exploring the Atlanta airport! Arriving in Ireland Found a Kylie Jenner vending machine in the Atlanta airport. Very strange. We were intrigued. Irish countryside
